I started out writing children stories when I was in elementary school, including illustrating my own children's books. I have won numerous writing contests for short stories and playwriting, including winning first place in the NAACP ACT-So Awards in 2001 and going nationals for playwriting. Now, creative writing (separately) is mostly a hobby for me. However, it is intertwined with my art and my career in education and a very important part of my creative life.
